Neighborland

↘ neighborland.com

A public engagement platform for city planning agencies and the developers whose projects they must approve. Residents post ideas on maps, vote, and answer surveys on branded project websites, and planners get that input back as mapped, analyzed data.

They primarily sell to Government agencies with a promise to improve outcomes on social impact, $$$, and speed of delivery.

It touches one phase of the supply chain with a product that is moderately digital.

If this works, it will disrupt Government and Public Engagement Consultants.

Nextdoor acquired Neighborland. The founding team moved over to lead Nextdoor's Public Agency team, and the two platforms began integrating on projects in San Francisco and Raleigh, while Neighborland continued to support its own partners. The platform operated until 2023 and is now shut down; neighborland.com is a retrospective one-pager, and the founders say they are "currently advising organizations on their public engagement strategy and technology".
