Who Buys AECO Disruption?

For each company in the database, we identified targeted buyers as well as the parties likely to be disrupted if that company/product is successful. The result is a matrix showing who's trying to disrupt whom. This is a heatmap of where the industry is placing bets.

Firms Seeking Shelter from Chain Drain. All actors in the AECO supply chain are being targeted by products/companies that promise digital tooling to accelerate or simplify their work. These are the auto-disruptors, and you see it in the clear diagonal line of larger circles running from top left to bottom right as well as across the "Incumbent Software" row.

Empowered Owners. Owners are the target of 35% of all companies in the database (with Architecture/Design and Construction tied for second at about 17% each, as of 8/11/2026), so it's clear that the industry sees them as the first movers to solve the issues of chain drain.

Is Architecture/Design Expanding or Scattering? The Arch × Arch intersection is the center of a smaller crosshair set of circles, showing the interconnection of design, engineering, construction, real estate, and governance. If the vertical cluster wins, it means architecture/design actors nibble adjacent scope. If the horizontal cluster comes out on top, it means architecture/design actors are the ones getting nibbled.
